“I am a South African-born musician/artist/writer now living in Los Angeles. I acquired a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and English Literature, studied drama and music and was taught art by my accomplished artist mother, so I try to present an autonomous package of who I am and how I interpret the world - lyrically, musically and artistically. My goal is to make a positive contribution to the world - whether it be through social commentary or by merely presenting music/art that someone can identify with. I began playing the guitar at 8 years of age and started writing songs a few years later. My love of literature, my appreciation of nature, and my concern for people and animals inspires many of my songs. Some of my songs were written in the Hollywood Hills area of Laurel Canyon, Los Angeles. Other songs include “Garden of Remembrance”, which is a tribute to the victims of September 11th; “Craig’s List” (a ‘tongue-in-cheek’ song about online dating); “Ode to a dog” (dedicated to all dogs), and two sonnets (Yeats and Shelley) put to music. “I never meant to change you” is inspired in part by a chapter in Kahlil Gibran's book "The Prophet"; “Lay down your arms” is a plea for peace; “Gratefully” is a song about loss; “When I was old” features lyrics written by my late mother.
